FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Lighting the Way for a Cure
ZGT teams up with the American Cancer Society to raise
record fundraising dollars in 2006.
Brookland, AR (OPENPRESS) February 27, 2006 -- The Craighead
County chapter of the American Cancer Society recognized
that ZGT's soy candles would make the ideal fundraising
product for the ACS, given their many benefits over traditional
paraffin wax candles, as well as the unique fundraising
philosophy of the company. ZGT hopes to help the local Relay
for Life Teams in reaching the $250,000 goal set by ACS
Chairman Sweetie Nash with their traditional order taker
fundraiser, but has also launched an online fundraiser to
raise even more money from all over the country to go toward
research in finding a cure.
In the year 2002 cancer killed 6.7 million people around
the world and this figure is expected to rise to 10.3 million
in the year 2020. With cancer accounting for 1 out of every
4 deaths in the US it is safe to assume that everyone knows
someone that has been affected by this devastating disease.
Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's signature
activity and is the largest community fundraiser in the
world.
"With that in mind, what better place than the internet
(the world's largest community) to raise money to help find
a cure", said Pinnacle's owner Richard Ressler.
Ressler began making candles in February of 2005. He states
that he chose to make soy wax candles because of the health
advantages that soy candles have over their paraffin wax
counterparts. Made from soy beans grown by American farmers
soy candles do not contain the many chemicals found in paraffin
wax candles. In addition to the health benefits, soy candles
reportedly last longer due to their lower melting point.
Ressler also explains that his goal was to make a better
smelling candle than anything found on the market. And according
to Ressler, judging from the reports he receives from his
customers he has achieved that goal.
ZGT's company philosophy on fundraising is to provide a
high quality product at a value price to the end customer
while at the same time providing a higher percentage of
sales to the non-profit groups who are selling the candles.
50% of all candle sales from both the Relay team sales as
well as the online fundraiser will be donated to the American
Cancer Society.
One of the first teams to participate in the candle fundraiser
this year is made up of employees at the NEA Medical Center
in Jonesboro, AR. This 10 person team sold 200 candles in
a two week time period raising $1,000.
Relay teams from anywhere in the country can contact Richard
Ressler through ZGT’s website to find out how they
can sell candles to raise money for their teams. And anyone
can visit ZGT’s online ACS fundraiser to purchase
candles for themselves.
“Please help Light the Way for a Cure” encourages
Ressler. “Together we can all make a difference”.
